Adding to it’s existing “freestanding” line-up of Refrigerator/Freezer units, the Bosch 24″ Counter Depth Refrigerator is a striking new option for those with severe size restrains in their Kitchen.

Bosch 24″ Refrigerator Unit

Now shipping in the USA, the Bosch Counter-Depth Refrigerator comes in three model variants, with only the exterior finish differing between them. A black version (the B10CB80NVB), a white version (the B10CB80NVW), and a Stainless Steel version (the B10CB80NVS). Pricing is the same for each, coming in at $2,499 MSRP. With this as the refrigerator, Bosch can now boast having full appliance packages starting in the $8,000. range.

Special Features

Ideal for Condo / Apartment kitchens where space is limited and only two people will be using the refrigerator, the Bosch 24″ Refrigerator features many of the same innovations present on its current, more expensive refrigeration offerings. LED interior lighting provides bright and energy efficient illumination. Integrated wine racks allow for easy wine bottle storage within the refrigerator.

The unit uses a fan-assisted MultiAirflow System which circulated the cold air quickly to all areas in order to chill or freeze the food faster. It also helps control the temperature fluctuations within the unit. A SuperCool function can be activated in order to cool the food in the refrigerator down faster. For instance, if you had just spent a few minutes loading your refrigerator and had the door open, by hitting the SuperCool function the temperature is lowered much faster than normal. To prevent unnecessary power consumption, the function automatically switches back after about 6 hours.

The SuperFreeze functions works essentially the same way for the freezer compartment. Many times we come back from the store and open the freezer for a minute or two while we load it up with frozen foods and ice cream.

bosch-24-refrigeratorBy selecting the SuperFreeze function, the compressor spins up and the unit forces the freezer down to its lowest temp quickly in order to keep the food from heating the rest of the freezer up. Please note, this does not function the same as a “Blast Chiller” and should not be used as such.

This unit is a NoFrost product, meaning it will collect the humidity in the air onto the central fin evaporator. This chiller automatically will defrost when needed, depositing the condensation into a special collecting pan under the unit, which then uses the warmth of the compressor to dry away.

Its main feature list:

  • Counter-Depth Unit
  • Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator
  • 2 Spill Proof Glass Shelves
  • 3 Door Bins
  • 1 Crisper Drawer
  • 3 Removable Freezer Drawers
  • Integrated Wine Rack
  • Energy Star Rated

Not-so-special Features

But at this price point, perfection can be elusive. And the Bosch 24″ Refrigerator is not perfect. The integrated wine rack does hold wine bottles easily but in our opinion take up needed space in an already tiny refrigerator. It is safe to say that if your kitchen is so small as to require one of these refrigerators you are not going to be more worried about space for your food storage than for your wine bottles.

The bottom drawer of the freezer doesn’t have a stop on it currently so some customers complain about it falling out onto the floor when they pull it open. Also, the top door rack is shallow and items flip and fall around on it as the door is opened. No automatic ice maker is included, as the freezer compartment is just too small for them to fit an ice maker, so get your ice trays ready.
