Miele of Germany has, for years, held the top spot in our mind for vacuum cleaner performance and reliability.

But Dyson captured the imagination of the public, with its bagless system and ultra high suction. Now, Miele has designed its own bagless canister vacuum, the Blizzard CX1, which utilizes its own vortex engine for dust and dirt seperation.

Now Miele has a new bagless vacuum cleaner design they will be launching here in the USA.

Miele Goes Bagless

Don’t get too excited and throw away your Miele vacuum bags just yet. This isn’t a full size vacuum.

Miele has designed this vacuum to be small and portable. The new Miele Blizzard CX1 Vacuum features a small design and no motorize options. So its hard floor attachments only to start. This makes it perfect for homes with solid flooring and the occasional rug.

A New and Interesting Design Direction

Vortex Technology

Miele’s new design produces a large flow velocity of more than 62mph which ensures that coarse dirt and finer dust particles are separated efficiently. They are syphoned into two separate containers, one for large particles and one for fine particles. When you combine this with their uniquely designed hard floor attachment this bagless vacuum cleaner achieves stellar cleaning performance.

With “Click2Open” there is an easy to reach button which deploys the dust bin gates. The containers are emptied completely through the bottom so that minimal dust is reintroduced into the air.

HEPA Air Filtration

This unit, like all Miele canister vacuums, is also able to utilize specially designed HEPA filters so that there is no chance allergens or pathogens sucked up by the vacuum cleaner are reintroduced into the air. The filter is rated to stop up to 99.999%¹of the smallest particles of fine dust and allergens.

Additional Features

Special sensors measure the air as it passes through the dust filters and automatically activates the ComfortClean self-cleaning function as needed to keep the airflow unrestricted. This function can also be activated manually on the top of the vacuum should you wish to engage it. There is also a temperature sensors within the Vortex system to automatically turn off the engine should something get stuck in the suction passageway.

New Slot for Keeping the Floor Head Upright

All attachment accessories are fit neatly into the canister shell, as on all Miele vacuums. The Blizzard CX1 model ships with both an upholstery nozzle and crevice nozzle.

One interesting new feature they’ve integrated into the vacuum is a special slot you can hook the floor head to, which holds it upright when you want to walk away to get something. As anyone who has ever owned a canister vacuum knows, the one downside to this type of design is that when you need to put the vacuum down, your floor head just drops to the floor in crash as you run to move something out of the way. It’s a very inelegant movement for such a fashionable appliance.

This new attachment rail is a genius way to stop this. I can’t wait to try it out.

In Conclusion

The Miele Blizzard CX1 is currently on sale in the UK and Europe, and due to arrive at the end of the year for U.S. customers. Pricing will likely be in the $600 range and it will likely ship in one or two color variants.
