The GE Profile Washer and Dryer offer a level of sophistication and technology that rivals your imagination. The largest capacity available and providing a host of creative innovative features, this washer and dryer make sure you spend less time doing laundry and more time doing the things you love. These products are so groundbreaking and extraordinary that the GE Profile Steam Washer PFWS4600LWW with Overnight Ready Cycle received the 2011 Good Housekeeping VIP Award as one of the most innovative products released. GE’s idea and plan was simple – create a washer and dryer that could clean just about any type of material, no matter the usage, and throw in a few more perks just to be on the safe side.

Performance and Efficiency

The GE Profile Washer and Dryer feature an expansive cavern capacity of 4.3 cu. ft. for the washer and a massive 7.5 cu. ft. for the dryer. This allows for larger loads and therefore saves you time.

The Washer has Load-sensing adaptive fill – it automatically measures the dry clothing placed inside and adjusts the water amount to the right proportions. Final check is done by adding just a small amount more water to check for correct measurements.

The Washer is also equipped with GE’s HydroHeater™ which increases the incoming water temperature for the highest level of cleaning.

The GE Profile Dryer PFDS450ELWW comes with GE’s DuoDry™ technology which employs two motors, two thermistors, two moisture sensors and a variable heater – all of which give even heating for perfect drying performance and efficiency.

Both Washer and Dryer are ENERGY STAR® qualified and CEE Tier III rated models.

Style and Innovations

Overnight Ready is a washing program that allows you to toss in a small load into the wash just before bedtime and within 8 hours the laundry is clean and dry, ready to wear that morning. The innovation of this wash cycle is the washer’s ability to remove almost all moisture from the freshly washed load – no need to place in the dryer.

Adaptive Vibration Control – this technology adapts to the floor type and installation location and then creates the best spin cycle patterns to reduce noise and vibration caused by out-of-balance loads.

The Stain Inspector™ system treats over 40 common stains through a comprehensive removal program.

Steam programs – SteamRefresh and Steam Dewrinkle – offer you the ability to sanitize, remove odors and freshen up clothing in a matter of minutes.

Special cycles for specific items – comforters, pet bedding, and performance fabrics – make it easy to launder these once difficult products.

The Dryer has a Baffle Dry system which includes a retractable rack inside the dryer so you can easily dry items you once had to hang up wet.

An LED light illuminates the wash tub basket for easier loading.

Installation options include side-by-side, stacked, custom built-in or under-the-counter.

Colors available are white or champagne – either is perfect for any décor.

The GE Profile Washer and Dryer both have a “dash” or control panel that rivals my car’s and rightly so considering the multitude of cycles, features and cleaning or drying options to choose. The idea of a washer that can “wick” out the dampness from just washed clothes in a matter of hours is amazing and mind-blowing at the same time. The fact that I don’t have to trudge to the laundry-mat or dry-cleaners to wash my comforters and dog beds is pure heaven. And having a washer and dryer that handles larger loads so I can have more time with my family and friends is priceless.

Pros – Huge capacity, several installation options, tons of cycles to choose from

Cons – A bit pricey at around $1,300 for the washer and $1,300 for the dryer. We’re in Miele territory here.
