In this Wolf Island Hood review, we are looking at the CTEIH42I – Wolf’s premier Low-Profile Modern Hood. A thick 16 gauge stainless steel finish with continually welded seams and hemmed edges show off this units bolstered craftsmanship. At 42″ wide, it is the perfect size to go above any 30″ or 36″ wide cooktop.

dynamic_42-inch-co_wdimensionsSeveral features stand out aside from the impeccable build quality and smart modern looks. The Wolf Low-Profile Island Hood ships with a heat sentry feature, flat stainless steel filter cover with aluminum mesh filter, and four-speed blower control.

The heat sentry feature offered in this Wolf Island Hood continually reads the heat coming off of the cooktop below and automatically sets the blower motor to high speed when the heat radiating from your cooktop reaches 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Likewise, when the sensor picks up a lower temperature, around 185 degrees, it goes back to the setting previously selected on the blower control. The blower controls are located on the front of the hood for easy access.

The flat stainless steel bottom is a unique design and gives the hood a very clean, modern look. Air is pulled in through the sides and grease clings to the flat stainless steel panel, while a dishwasher safe aluminum mesh filter catches any lighter grease particles on their way inside. The mesh inserts go neatly into the dishwasher, while the stainless steel bottom is easily wiped clean.

Installation of this hood is much easier than others (yea, we’re looking at you Bosch/Thermador) with clear and easy specs, integrated blower preinstalled, and well designed handing brackets. The 500 CFM blower is not as powerful as we’d like to see in a hood this big, but unless you’re planning on keeping all burners cooking at once it does manage to do the job.
The Wolf Low-Profile Island Hood also comes with (4) sealed halogen lights with 3 dimming settings and a 2-year warranty when installed by a SZ / Wolf certified technician. This is also one of the few Wolf hoods that can be converted to recirculating, making it the perfect choice for those doing remodels in apartments or condos where venting the air out is not an option.

At an MSRP price of $3,300. it’s a quality piece that suits both homes and large condos alike
